The short version: this website doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you across other sites and doesn’t ask you for any personal information. If you email us or buy from us, we use your details only to help you and to fulfil your order.
Who we are
BR Trading Post is a sole trader business based in the UK. We decide how the personal information described here is used, which makes us its controller under UK data protection law. You can contact us about privacy at hello@brtradingpost.co.uk.
When you visit this website
- Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn’t use cookies or store anything on your device, and it doesn’t identify you. It tells us things like which pages are popular, which websites sent visitors here, and the general type of device and country. We use these figures to improve the shop, on the basis of our legitimate interests.
- Hosting and security. The site is hosted by GitHub Pages, and our shop data service and email forwarding run on Cloudflare. Like any web host, they process your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the service secure. We don’t receive these logs.
- Product photos. Most photos are served from our own service. Some extra photos on item pages load directly from eBay’s image servers (
i.ebayimg.com), which receive your IP address and browser details when your browser fetches them.
When you email us
We receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to deal with your question, on the basis of our legitimate interests in running the shop, or to take steps you’ve asked for before an order. Emails to our address are forwarded by Cloudflare to our Google mailbox. We keep messages for as long as we need them to help you, and no longer than two years unless they relate to an order.
When you buy from us
Orders are placed on eBay, which shares with us the details we need to send your order, such as your name, delivery address and what you bought. We use them to pack and post your order, deal with returns and keep the records the law requires, which for tax records is about six years. eBay’s own privacy policy covers how it handles your information.
Cookies and storage on your device
This website doesn’t set any cookies, for analytics, advertising or anything else, so there’s no cookie banner. It stores two small things in your browser, both strictly necessary for features you use, so they don’t need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR):
- your colour theme choice (Auto, Light or Dark), if you change it, saved as
brtp:themein local storage - a copy of the site’s files, kept by a service worker in cache storage, so pages load quickly and work if your connection drops
You can clear both at any time in your browser’s settings.
Links to other websites
Buttons for eBay, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook are plain links. We don’t embed their widgets or tracking pixels, so they learn nothing about your visit unless you follow a link. Once you’re on their website, their privacy policy applies.
Who we share information with
We don’t sell your information or use it for advertising. We use these services to run the shop, and they process information on our behalf:
- GitHub (website hosting)
- Cloudflare (domain, shop data service, email forwarding and visitor statistics)
- Google (email)
- eBay (the marketplace where orders are placed)
Some of these companies process information outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or object to how we use it. To make a request, email hello@brtradingpost.co.uk. We’ll reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
